It's been 3 weeks today since Vanilya's death and we are committed to finding out the truth about the cause of her death in spite of the difficulties that are in front of us. So, here is the story of the last 3 weeks.
So far Pfizer has, at their request, paid for Vanilya's post mortem, then follow up tests, now follow up to follow up tests, all by expert pathologists at the Royal Veterinary College. It is clear that Vanilya died of multiple issues, the biggest being a liver "tumour" of some sort, having been given a "clean bill of health" on her blood, liver, kidneys and by xray after a series of tests at the beginning of February. The Vet injected or administered seven drugs into Vanilya, without any knowledge of compatibility, in three big bangs at the end of December (2), at the beginning of February (6) and the end of March (5). In the last few days Vanilya was almost blind. These drugs included powerful 3rd generation anti-skin infections drugs (for infections that they had not proved existed and in relation to which the Vet did not test for susceptibility - when this was a specific Pfizer and EU Pre-Approval Science Committee requirement - plus hypnotics, steroids of a type used by body builders and so it goes on. Only one of the drugs had formal FDA and EU approval for use in Cats.
But Vanilya is now up in the clouds, we hope living peacefully, knowing that we are doing everything we can to prevent other lovely creatures like her to go through the same experiences.
The Vet has already passed the matter to their PI insurer who has been in touch with us, denying everything before we have even suggested taking action of any sort. We had reached the point, after a very difficult three months from several points of view, where our health was starting to suffer - so we have found a more gentle way forward which will take us six months before we know the truth - if that will be possible. But if Erin Brockovitch (alias Julia Roberts) can do it so can we.
It is unlikely to finish in an action against Pfizer. Their US web site discloses almost every known risk, side effect, adverse reaction of taking the drug Convenia. The UK equivalent listing reports only 5% of that reported on the US website.
You all know why, litigation in this field is an every day matter in the US - but not here where it is usually a small claims court matter.
If any of you, the readers, is aware of any other Convenia related deaths or severe adverse reactions, please do let us know. If there are any web links that you come across, please send us the link. Every single bit of information will help us prove that Convenia is:
- a dangerous drug, that can kill you fury friend or cause severe adverse reactions
- that vets use this powerful drug without informing us, the pets guardians of the adverse reactions
- that the vets use it for way more health issues than the ones recommended by Pfizer in their information sheet
- that we, the pets guardians have the right to make an informed decision regarding the type of medication applied to our fury friends
- that the information sheets for the same product should be identical no matter what country are they released in
Keep spreading the word about Convenia, this dangerous injectable drug! Protect your fury friends!
It is so heart breaking and frightening: Shows so little compassion and so much denial on the vets part. TO say she was ok when she had a TUMOR on the liver and give her antibiotics. I am so, so sorry that your girl had to go through such an ordeal and you 2 alongside. X

Yes my dear it is horrible! The thing is that it is documented that the chemicals in Convenia affect the liver and can generate the develpment of tumours! Let s see what comes in the third round of post mortem. We do have plenty of evidence to demonstrate at least professional negligence! Thank you so much for your words and support!

Please get in contact with me. I just lost my best friend to Convenia. Pfiser would not help my vet on any treatment. Said it wasn't Convenia. Now they are offering post-mortem. We need to stop these people and educate Vets. Please email me and either give me your number or I will give you mine. I am going to the Vet hospital to say goodbye. I want to get the word out to vets and pet owners - this has got to stop. She went into anapalotic shock immediately. The emergency hospital we had taken her to said it was normal for her to be comatose and wait until Monday if she wasn't better. Got her into our vet and he did all he could - she was deal within 60 hours of the shot. I can't go on right now. But please, please help me with ideas on how to educate Vets and make pfiser at lease responsible for better warnings. Website setup, I have an internet business I can put the word out. This has got to be stopped & vets and people warned. Your are the best info I have found. Once the crying stops and the pain eases, people tend to go on----I want to stop This. Please help. You can tell me what to avoid and what helps.
Thank you so very much.

Dear Eva,
I've already emailed you! I hope that you've got my messages. It is devastating when our fury friends die. Convenia is a killer drug and I agree that we need to do everything we can to stop this from happening again. Much love! Corina

I just took my cat Sophia to the vet this Tuesday for her ear. She had bladness on face and near ear from scratching. The vet gaver her a shot of Convenia. She had an allergic reactiont to it immediately. She started panting and had palpitations. They gave her Benadryl and Steroids. Its the fourth day and I'm keeping an eye on her. Today she is disoriented and restless. After she had the allergic reaction on Tuesday I went online and I'm reading all this horror stories. I feel so sick about this, I feel like I let my cat down. I'm crying everyday...

Dear, dear Benita, I'm really hoping that Sophia made it and is not one of the victims of this terrible Convenia. I'm so sorry i've just noticed your comment. I know what you are going through! i've been there! I'm still crying after my darling Vanilya and like you I feel as if I let her down. My heart is crying for your experience and for the lack of information regarding this dangerous drug that is still so widely spread. A big virtual hug from me my dear Benita and best of luck!

My dear Bess, i know that this was meant to be probably but i'm still in pain, i'm still upset that the vets are so incompetent and that other little animals are killed because of the greed of some!
I'm a strong believer in reincarnation and I knew that Vanilya will come back to me. She is now an adorable 8 months old kitten called Bhakti. She is everything that Vanilya was and more ... we've recognised each other.
I will continue to campaign against this terrible drug anyway. We need to do everything we can, one step at a time.
Love and light!

Hi my name is Tamara and I have a sick cat whom is a stray so we sorta took her in. we have had her about three years now and she got sick last week so I took to the vet they gave her a shot of convenia because they said she had an upper respitory infection. She was given it on Dec.11th 2012 the next day she couldn't hardly move her back legs. The vet asures me that it not a reaction to the shot. I just don't know what to do. Her name is Missy and we love her but we think she is going to pass soon.

Tamara, please see my video Just Say NO to Convenia... I have a description of a possible remedy to Convenia which is to use aggressive probiotic treatment.
My cat Angelina also received this drug, unfortunately she passed away 10 days later. She also had a liver tumor and acute leukemia according to a necropsy.. however they said after doing a histology that Convenia could not have caused the anemia... not because it's not possible but because Convenia has not been reported to cause anemia. It has been reported in personal accounts online, at Dr. Pierson's website and in Pfizers own foreign market studies, so I intend to send paper work to Cornell Hospital where her necropsy was done. I am also trying to spread the word to everyone I know so they do not use Convenia for their cat or dog. Go to the Facebook Convenia Adverse Reactions page for more information. Good luck. I hope Missy does recover, it's not too late to try the probiotic treatment, fluids may help also.

Dear Tamara, reading messages like yours make me angry, make me weep and want to shout from the top of the roofs ....Stop using Convenia! Your vet is in denial and I'm not surprised. The majority are in the pockets of big pharmaceutical companies! I'm really, really hoping Missy made it. Please tell everybody you know to avoid Convenia. There is a Facebook group campaigning against Convenia and providing support to people like me and you! Many hugs my lovely!

took my 4 lb girl to vet.she was diagnosed with ckd in 2018 .after special diet & supplements she gained weight & muscle & running around like a 2 yr old.they sedated her ,did bloodwork & gave convenia. got her home but lethargic, thoght groggy from sedation ,next day worse .she hadnt pooped so i looked at papers & saw " convenia',looked up & almost fainted.i called & asked why he gave her that,it says do NOT give to cats with immune or kidney disorders & he knew .i said it stays in their system 65 days , he lied & said no.told me to give light caro syrup for constipation but i didnt want her glucose to go up ( pre diabetic & he knew) so i gave coconut oil. ( stuck my finger in the paste form & let her lick. she got worse, sneezing & now upper respiratory.called & asked if i could give the safe antibiotic, they said theyd check & call back.never did so i called back, they wouldnt take my call,so i left message i wanted records for all 3 cats.when i went next day i asked if theyd ask him about the good antibiotic ,when they brought records out they said he told them it may help but he couldnt tell me dosage ,that i wasnt his client. after 44 years !took my baby to e.r. , on constant i.v for 3 days ,still upper respiratory, can barely walk. the bad thing is 2 weeks before he gave my other cat same for UTI,since shes twice l.c. size , it is just now starting to show. am disabled senior & dont know computers , twitter, social media, if i did the whole world would know about this. i've tried everywhere i can but no one will help.attorney told me nothing can be done that texas is the worst state ,treats pets like trash. if anyone has info it would be greatly appreciated. this needs to stop. i say if the idiots that still use it knowing what i does are so confident it is safe then use it on themselves, their kids ,grandkids. you know they wouldnt. this is like antifreeze,if the pet doesnt die immediately ,it will wind up like too many others with cancer, f.i.o, & too many other things to list.
